Texas Technology Symposium

May 3, 2017 in Grapevine, Texas

General Session: The Science of Taxonomy

A Practical Enterprise Taxonomy: The Foundation for Effective Content Alignment – ERCOT manages the flow of power to 24 million customers – about 90% of the Texas electrical load. Critical to their business is the ability to provide clear communications and reliable data to their constituents; consumers, cooperatives, power generators, and more. They need to be able to do this in a rapidly changing, data-driven environment. To help do this, we developed a controlled vocabulary – a common language to help organize content and clarify communications. We’ll show how we built support for the new vocabulary, educated users, and designed governance that allows for feedback and continuous improvement.

Jenny Ammerman, Access Sciences Information Management Consulting Manager, will be speaking on this topic with Gareth Cales from MCCi.
